The historical moment with Obama in Chicago

Obama_president.jpg

Chicago. Arriving at Chicago where my friend Ric Estrrada has picked me up straight to The Obama Head quarter to seek some voluntry work. At the Obama office there was plenty work to do: making phone calls, knocking on doors and talking to people on the streets urging them to vote.

Ric Estrada is the executive director of Erie Neighborhood House. ENH is a community service agency founded in 1870 that promotes a just and inclusive society by strengthening low-income, primarily Latino families through skill-building, access to critical resources, advocacy and collaborative action.

As the election draws near, together with Erie staff and volunteers went on the streets knocking on doors to ensure that people (especially immigrants) to vote.

After having a quick dinner, we went to the Grant Park (thanks to Ric and his wonderful wife Beatriz I got the ticket to gain access to the park) and that was amazing experience. I am very proud to witness that historical moment and share the joy with those thousands peaceful people around me.

Obama’s speech and his person has enlisted us, not only his fellow Americans but the whole world, in his cause and given all of us a good reason to feel like winners. Here are some pictures I've taken with my friends.

The perception is at least as important as the reality. The crux is this: since its founding in 1776, America has risen to the the position as the dominant power in the world with a leadership and ideology of men of European descent.
